🍃 The Whisper in the Wind:
Rising to Spiritual Sensitivity
📖 "Then He said, 'Go out, and stand on
the mountain before the Lord.' And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and
strong wind tore into the mountains... but the Lord was not in the wind; and
after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after
the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a
still small voice."
— 1 Kings 19:11-12,
NKJV

Devotional Thought
We
live in a world that shouts. Between the roar of our digital notifications and
the loud demands of our daily schedules, it is easy to become addicted to the
noise. But the Lord is issuing a divine invitation today: "Be still and
listen."
God’s
most profound instructions rarely come in a thunderclap; they come like a soft
wind. He is calling us to a "new level of existence"—a place where we
move beyond just surviving the natural world and begin thriving in the
spiritual one. This "coming up higher" requires a trade: we must
trade our noisy anxiety for a quieted soul.
Spiritual
sensitivity is no longer an "optional extra" for the believer; it is
a necessity. There are specific things you need to know for your future and
precise steps you need to take, but you will miss them if you are only
listening with your ears. You must learn to listen with your spirit. When you
quiet the inner turmoil, you sharpen your spiritual hearing. Don't be afraid of
the silence; it is in the stillness that the Master reveals the map.
🙏 A Heartfelt Prayer
Lord,
I hear Your call to come up higher. I confess that my soul is often loud with
worries, plans, and the noise of this world. Today, I intentionally choose to
be still. Quiet my heart and sharpen my spiritual sensitivity. Help me to
recognize Your voice even when it comes as a gentle whisper. I want to know
what You have for me to do. I am listening, Lord. Lead me into this new level
of walk with You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
✅ Call to Action
The
"Digital Fast." For the next 24 hours, choose a one-hour window where
you turn off all electronics—no music, no podcasts, no scrolling. Spend that
hour in a quiet space with just a notebook and your Bible. Practice
"quieting your soul" and simply ask, "Lord, what is the soft
wind saying today?" Write down any impressions or thoughts that come
to your spirit.
