Destined for the Deep: Overcoming the Fear of the New

👣 Destined for the Deep: Overcoming the Fear of the New

📖 "For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ... that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the inner man... that you may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height—to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God."

Ephesians 3:14–19, NKJV

💭 Reflective Devotional Thought

There is a specific kind of trembling that happens when we stand at the edge of the unknown. Whether you are facing a physical move, an emotional healing journey you’ve avoided, or a mental shift in how you view your future, the message is the same: You have not been this way before. It is okay to admit that the prospect is frightening. New territory is, by definition, unmapped and unpredictable. But as a child of God, you are never a pioneer in a lonely wilderness. The Lord declares that He has already gone before you. He isn't just watching you from the finish line; He is the one who cleared the thicket and leveled the path you are currently walking.

This move into the unfamiliar isn't an accident or a detour—it is your destiny. God is calling you out of the "shallow" and into the "width, length, depth, and height" of His purpose for your life. You cannot reach the fullness of what He has for you by staying where it is comfortable. Trust that the One who destined you for this path is the same One who is leading you through it. The territory may be unfamiliar to you, but it is perfectly known to Him.

🙏 A Heartfelt Prayer

Father, I come to You today with a heart that feels both excited and anxious. I acknowledge that this new territory feels frightening because I’ve never been here before. But Lord, I thank You that You are already there. Thank You for going before me to make a way. Strengthen me in my inner man so that I don't shrink back in fear. I trust Your lead and I embrace the destiny You have prepared for me. Lead me on, Holy Spirit. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Call to Action

Map the "God-Moments." Take a piece of paper and draw a line representing your journey so far. Mark 3-4 times in the past when you were in "unfamiliar territory" and felt afraid, but God brought you through. Use those past victories as your "compass" for today. Whenever fear of the new rises up, look at your map and remember: He did it then; He will do it now.
