🧭 The Power of "Now": Planning Ahead While Staying
Present
📖 "Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my mind and
my heart. For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in Your
truth."
💭 Devotional Thought
It is a delicate balancing act to hold a
vision for the future while keeping your feet firmly planted in today. Many of
us fall into the trap of "destination obsession"—thinking so much
about where we want to be that we neglect the work, the people, and the
opportunities right in front of us.
The Lord is giving us a clear strategy
for peace: Plan for the future, but focus on the present. There is a specific
grace assigned to you for today. You cannot reach back and rewrite the
past, so why waste your emotional energy relitigating old mistakes? Instead,
take that energy and channel it into living this moment with integrity and
honor. Integrity isn't built in the "someday"; it is forged in the
small, seemingly insignificant choices you make this afternoon.
And in the middle of your plans and your
busy schedule, never lose sight of the simplest, most transformative command:
Be kind. Your legacy isn't just the goals you achieve; it’s the way you treat
people while you’re achieving them. Walk in your truth today, do your best with
what is on your plate right now, and trust that your "today" is the
perfect stepping stone to your "tomorrow."
🙏 A Heartfelt Prayer
Lord, I thank You that my future is
secure in Your hands. Help me to plan with wisdom, but keep me from being so
distracted by tomorrow that I miss the work You have for me today. I release
the weight of my past—the mistakes, the regrets, and the 'could-haves'—and I
ask for the strength to live this day with honor. Soften my heart, Lord, and
help me to be kind to everyone I encounter. Let my life be a reflection of Your
integrity. Amen.

Call to Action
The "Today Only" List. While
you may have a long-term project list, write down three things that must
be done today to live with honor and kindness. Maybe it’s completing a task
you’ve procrastinated on, or sending an encouraging text to someone who is
struggling. Focus your full attention on those three things, leaving tomorrow’s
worries for tomorrow.
