Your Flow: Maintaining Purpose in Perplexing Times
📖 "Then He said, 'Go out, and
stand on the mountain before the Lord.' And behold, the Lord passed by, and a
great and strong wind tore into the mountains... but the Lord was not in the
wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake;
and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after
the fire a still small voice."
— 1 Kings
19:11-12, NKJV
💭 Reflective Devotional Thought
We
live in an era of constant "noise"—social, mental, and situational.
These perplexities have a way of trying to hijack our peace and blur our sense
of purpose. It’s easy to feel like you are being pulled in a dozen directions
at once, with every "emergency" demanding your immediate attention.
But there is a vital warning for us today: You cannot allow circumstances to
interrupt your spiritual flow.
Your
"spiritual flow" is that steady connection to the Father that keeps
you grounded regardless of the storm outside. When we try to accomplish
"all things at once," we don't just lose our productivity; we lose
our sanity and our sensitivity to God's voice. Elijah learned on the mountain
that God wasn't in the spectacular wind, the earthquake, or the fire. He was in
the whisper.
The
Lord is inviting you to a "one-at-a-time" lifestyle. He knows you
have much to do, but He wants to lead you through it with grace, not grind. By
letting Him lead, guide, direct, and protect you, the chaos of the day becomes
secondary to the peace of His presence. Don't let the complexity of the world
overcome the simplicity of your purpose.
🙏 A Heartfelt Prayer
Lord,
I thank You that my purpose is not defined by my circumstances. Forgive me for
the times I’ve allowed the perplexities of life to overwhelm my spirit and
drown out Your voice. Today, I reclaim my spiritual flow. I surrender my
"to-do" list to You and ask for the grace to take things one step at
a time. Be my Guide and my Protector as I navigate this day. Keep my mind
stayed on You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
✅ Call to Action
The
"Single-Focus" Filter. Identify the three most pressing things on
your heart today. Instead of worrying about them as a cluster, commit to
focusing on just one at a time. Before you begin each task, take sixty seconds
to breathe and listen for that "still small voice." Intentionally
refuse to let the "wind and fire" of other responsibilities interrupt
the peace of your current moment.
