“Moses, Aaron, and Hur climbed to the top of a nearby hill. As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand, the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage. Moses’ arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So his hands held steady until sunset. As a result, Joshua overwhelmed the army of Amalek in battle.” (Exodus 17:10b-12, NLT)
You need someone to
encourage you.
When you are at the
summit of the mountain and can see your victory from a distance, you still need
your loved ones to strengthen your faith. Even if God has shown you how to win
and given you a strategy to do it, you still can't accomplish it alone.
Moses gazed in awe at his
people's victory as he saw the conflict from a mountaintop. However, as he
continued to hold the staff, his arm started to droop from the weight. Those
who were with him could clearly see that the Amalekites gained the upper hand
and started to defeat the Israelites when he lowered the arm that was holding
the staff.
Aaron and Hur were aware
that maintaining Moses' arm would be essential to the Israelites' victory.
Moses was able to deliver victory to the Israelite Army thanks to the support
of his two devoted companions.
If
their organization is to successfully complete the task that has been assigned
to them, leaders must recognize the need for support from the people around
them. To successfully lead faithfully, you must let go of selfishness,
gerrymandering, and micromanaging and let the skills and abilities of God's
workers shine.
The
victory will be shared by everyone.
